Rick Yamada, an expert in the specialized field of packing and crating systems for traveling exhibitions, has designed, developed, and refined techniques for packing a wide variety of objects and artifacts. He has been in the museum field for over thirty years.
Formerly with the Smithsonian Institution, Mr. Yamada has designed packing for thousands of objects including sculptures, paintings, historic documents, period furniture, costumes, textiles, ceramics, scientific instruments, natural history objects, and anthropological specimens belonging to major museums and collections around the world.
Mr. Yamada has authored manuals, specifications and articles on the craft of packing and crating objects and artifacts. He has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences, educational institutions and museums. Examples of Mr. Yamada's packing have been shipped to venues worldwide.
